sick and tired

We are all sick and tired at our house. Sweet Pea brought home a head cold and it is making the rounds. Last night Honey Bun said he was starting to feel a scratchy throat and I am about 2 days into the sickness. Sweet Pea started on Sunday, so I am hoping that she is on the downhill slide.

I have not posted in 2 weeks and I will try to catch you up on life around here.

We (me, mom, sister and sweet pea) traveled to visit bread-baking fiancee last weekend. It was a wonderful trip. We took the train and it was a great choice for us. Mostly because on the way home Sweet Pea was starting to get sick and threw up all over me and I mean ALL OVER ME...but the bright side was I was able to go get my suitcase and change clothes, we would not have been able to do that on an airplane. Weather was good, we had 2 little rain showers that we walked through otherwise it was warm and beautiful. Good time was had.

I have started counting down the days till the end of the season. Honey Bun is working hard and the girls are too, but I am ready for the laundry to sit and him to rest. We have 9 days left. I am just tired of all the drama. Wears a wife out!

Sweet Pea turned 9 months old. She got 2 more teeth and now has 8. And she has started biting stuff, mostly meaning her mother.

I can't think of anything else to write...so I must be done for now. Let's hope we get some rest tonight and we aren't all coughing all night long, again.

a sign ? ! ?

I have been using sign language with Sweet Pea since she turned 6 mo old.

Saturday night...I think she used a sign! I have been signing "eat", "drink", "more", "up" Very easy signs and I always used them at meal times. When doing the sign for more, you pull both hands together and repeatedly touch fingers.
And that was what I saw her doing on Sat night...OR...she was just touching her fingers together...

I got all excited and threw a ton on puffs on her tray and quickly made more cereal, but I think in my excitement I scared her off, because she didn't eat anything else.

Later on Sunday she pointed to the sky (which means up, as in pick me up) Again I think I over-reacted, because she looked at me like I was a crazy person for repeating up, up up. I picked her up and praised her. Let's hope we see more sign language from this little girl.

Caution: family weekend ahead

We are all traveling to the lake this weekend. All three of us, my folks, both sisters and their families, one brother and his family...all of us traveling to the lakehouse where there is 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom.

And are you wondering about my strategy?

1 of 2 things is going to happen, of this I can be sure.

Thing 1...Sweet Pea will fall asleep and I will HAVE to have the one remaining bedroom(after my parents take over the other) because the cousins will be too loud and I will really need to set up the pack-n-play and then she will not be in the way and she can sleep and the cousins can play.

OR Thing 2...Sweet Pea will start crying and we will NEED to use the one remaining bedroom to calm her down and get some peace and she will fall asleep and...refer to thing 1.

Either way...The cheese stands alone!

keep'in up with the kids

Sweet Pea slept most of the weekend. Seems that keeping up with the other kids all week is just plain wearing her out. There have always been a 3yr old and 2 2yr olds at daycare...now they added an 18mo girl. That gives Sweet Pea competition for toys and attention. She has not been handling the competition very well, but this weekend I think she is getting over that. We are working on sharing and I am not really sure how that works for an almost 8mo old child, but we are trying. She has to share the daycare lady and she has to share the toys. Honey Bun is glad there is someone closer to her age, so she does have to share...because at home...none of us share much.

Because she doesn't want to miss anything (and I don't think they try hard enough) she has only been taking one nap. (She took 2 long naps on both Sat and Sun) (very easily)(and in bed by 9pm) But then with only me to entertain her, what's to miss?

And she was on a food strike, only wanted milk and only wanted Mom to hold her. So I got my baby back this weekend, kinda fun...but I am kinda ready for the tray slapping, spoon grabbing girl to be back in the high chair at dinner tonight.

traveling companion

Sweet Pea and me went to visit Little Miss and best Girlfriend. We had such a great visit! Weather was wonderful. Warm and just a little windy. We were 2 friends with 2 strollers and 2 little girls and we were loving life! It was a "look at us" moment and we both said, "We're doing it!"

We took the little pick-up, which I was worried about, but turned out to be a really good decision. No travel problems and since we were both in the front seat of the cab, she could see me and I could see her. There was only one point it was touch and go...she flinged the Binky on the other side of the truck and mommy couldn't reach it. And there was crying about that. But we were 15 minutes from home and didn't need to make an emergency stop to find it. Otherwise nothing. I could reach the snacks and give her some to keep her busy while we were in traffic, I could hold her hand when she wanted to sleep. We sang songs and I even was telling stories to pass the time. I passed toys and she passed them back and we just plain talked. Like I said, it was wonderful. Who knew that traveling with a 7mo old could be fun?

Next we have Easter travel to the lakehouse and we are planning to go visit bread baking fiancee...can I plan on it going this smooth?

post for Grandma

posting this for Grandma.

I was going to remove the video, once grandma saw it...but have elected not to. Sister said, why? I guess I want this blog to be interesting to my friends and family and I thought another video would be boring to you all. But then I want to come and see Sweet Pea staggering around, so I didn't want to remove it. So it stays!
